1950年 韓国、ソウル生まれ。1981年 中央大学校大学院洋画専攻(MFA)。90年代は都市の近代化で姿を消した故郷の町「高徳里」への哀惜と発展への憧憬の狭間に揺れる心象風景をシリーズ作品に描く。2000年代よりニューヨークを拠点に、新たな「イーストサイド ストーリー」シリーズ作品を展開。肌の色の違う人々の共存という大きなテーマを背景に、自らの民族としての太古の記憶にまで連なる「魂の響き」そのものを表現した。現在、韓国、アメリカ、中国、日本の他アジア各地で展覧会をおこなっている。

Kim Myung-sik was born in Seoul, Korea in 1950 and completed Chuo University graduate school (MFA) in 1981.
He produced the series work of "Kotoku village" which was his hometown that disappeared by the modernization of the city in the 90s. Myung-sik presented a new "East Side story" series work based in New York from the 2000s.
In this series work, "the sound of the racial soul" is expressed on a theme of the coexistence of people of different color and ethnic backgrounds.
